The Carlow Counseling Clinic (CCC) at Woodland Hills, under the direction of the Professional Counseling Program at Carlow, provides FREE school-based mental health counseling and prevention services to all students and schools within the district. With a referral from the school’s social worker or school counselor, your child or teen is eligible for in-school counseling services through CCC.

The counselors who provide services CCC are master’s-level practicum and internship students within Carlow University’s Professional Counseling Program. All counselors-in-training receive supervision of their work and training from the clinical director. Supervision consists of weekly individual and group meetings in which the counselor-in-trainings cases are reviewed, and guidance is provided by the supervisor.

To ensure the quality of services, and in accordance with best practices in the education of counselors-in-training, all individual and group counseling sessions will be video recorded and reviewed by the clinical supervisor. These recordings are de-identified, securely stored through HIPAA compliant software, and deleted following their use in supervision.

Khaliah J. Cousar Tate, M.S.Ed., LPC

Khaliah J. Cousar Tate is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Approved Supervisor in PA & VA, the Executive Director & CEO of a private practice, and a Mental Health Advocate.

Khaliah has specialized in marriage and family counseling as well as adolescent counseling for over 20 years. She is committed to helping clients identify and heal core emotional wounds, guiding them toward discovering their authentic selves to foster more harmonious relationships. Khaliah also has over 16 years of bivocational youth and young adult ministry experience. In addition to her leadership role, Khaliah has curated community involvement with various organizations, including Youth Enrichment Services, Ozanam, and Macedonia Church of Pittsburgh. Through these engagements, she has contributed to mentorship, education, and enrichment programs for at-risk youth, aligning with her passion for community development and empowerment.

Khaliah J. Cousar Tate remains committed to creating safe spaces for healing, growth, and transformation within her community and beyond. Khaliah is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in Ministry at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

Family Engagement Specialist
Jovonne Rose-Robinson, MA 

Jovonne received her BA and MA in Psychology from Chatham University. Her passion for education eventually led to roles as a GED instructor and middle school math teacher. Additionally, Jovonne utilizes grounded theory techniques to engage in studies focused on self-compassion in first-time moms and the experiences of marginalized groups aging out of the foster care system. She is excited to use her research background and passion for education in the role of family engagement specialist. 

As a family engagement specialist, Jovonne will work closely with the Woodland Hills School District to provide additional support to students and their families.  She will collaborate with social workers and other school staff members to identify barriers that impact attendance, academic performance, and emotional well-being. In this role, Jovonne is able to provide check-ins with students and encourage parents and guardians to connect with and utilize community/mental health support.  Jovonne looks forward to working more with the students and families in the Woodland Hills School District.
